Auditions for The Shadow Box

Rex Mathes Auditorium

Cast Requirements:

1 Man, 16-21
3 Men,  25+
3 Women, 25+
1 Woman, 50+
1 Flexible Role (No gender/age requirement)

Info for Auditionees:

Prepared audition material not necessary. Auditions will consist of readings from the script and will start promptly at 7:00. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and review script pages.

Tech/dress rehearsals for The Shadow Box will be April 17-21, with pickup rehearsals to be held April 28 and May 5. You MUST be available all of these evenings (as well as all show dates of April 22, 23, 29, 30, May 6 and 7) in order to be considered for a role.

Playwrights Workshop Winner Announced!

This year’s winning script is Again and Again, and Eventually by Erica Spiller.

Marshall desperately grasps at threads as he watches his family dynamics evolve. He is a one man army fighting against the drug abuse, medical conditions, and deployment that terrorize and threaten his family. Despite all the enormous battles Marshall tries to fight, he is plagued by one grand war – the struggle to never surrender.

Three Changes by Nicky Silver

Synopsis: 
Nate and Laurel are a seemingly happy couple—busy, content and comfortable—until the surprising arrival of Hal, Nate’s long-lost brother. A once-successful television writer, Hal is just out of rehab. He’s out of cash and alone in the world. But what seems to be a casual visit, a chance to reconnect, is quickly revealed to be something much more ominous. As he attempts to write his first novel, Hal insidiously usurps Nate’s place in the home. As the play builds to its climax, the two brothers who have tried to find a way to love each other, become locked in a battle that will cost one of them their life.

Synopsis:
Winner of the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize, The Shadow Box centers around three terminal cancer patients dwelling in separate cottages on a hospital grounds. The three are attended and visited by family and close friends: Agnes and her mother Felicity, estranged further by the latter’s dementia; Brian and ex-wife Beverly, whose complications are exacerbated by Brian’s new lover, Mark; and Joe and Maggie, unready for the strain of Joe’s impending death and its effect on their teenage son.
